This week only, Le Lyonnais (947 Penn Avenue) adds some Southern-inspired flavors to its menu in honor of THE COLOR PURPLE, playing at the Benedum Center November 14-19.

Stop by to try the featured dish: Georgian-Style Buttermilk Chicken Sliders, with fried chicken, Georgian-style mustard BBQ sauce, heirloom tomatoes, lettuce, and pickled poblano on a bun.

The Southern-inspired plate provides a nice complement to Le Lyonnais’ “French comfort food” concept, which includes hearty dinner staples like Beef Cheeks Bourguignon (pinot noir demi, lardons, mushrooms, fried onions, and pommes mousseline) and Poussin Provencal (beer brined Cornish hen, roasted garlic jus, and pommes mousseline).

Even the sandwiches are plenty filling, with Croq’ Monsieur (smoked ham, bechamel sauce, gruyère, brioche bread, salade de laitue) and Baguette Provencale (grilled chicken, peppers, onions, lardons, oven roasted tomato, gruyère, harissa mayo, parmesan truffle frites) on the lunch and post-show dinner menu after 9pm.

No matter what you order, make time for conversation with your theater-going companions. THE COLOR PURPLE is a transformative show that follows a young woman’s journey to love and triumph in the American South, and celebrates the power of friendships she forms along the way. Le Lyonnais’ intimate space is the perfect place to share good food and conversation as you interpret this remarkable story.
