The musical adaptation of THE BODYGUARD opens at the Benedum Center this week, and our featured dining partner, Union Standard (524 William Penn Place), has the stuff that you want, the thing that you need to unleash your power ballad loving, inner 90s child: a special “Queen of the Night” cocktail. Oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeeaaah.

Crafted in honor of the show and available this week only, the “Queen of the Night” features Hanger One Rose Vodka, St. Germaine, Pimm’s #1, Grapefruit Shrub, Lemon, Sage Simple Syrup, Egg White, and Sage Petal (pictured above).

Beyond the cocktail, there’s plenty that THE BODYGUARD protagonist Rachel Marron would love about Union Standard. The restaurant manages to strike that same balance between old-world-style glamor and stripped-down authenticity as Marron herself. Housed on the ground floor of the gorgeously renovated and restored Union Trust Building, the restaurant’s ambience feels more relaxed and contemporary than you might expect, with big windows, bright red stools, and an open kitchen equipped with a wood-fired rotisserie and grill.

Chef Derek Stevens’ seasonal menu also strikes that balance between classic and contemporary. If you’re craving the fresher tastes of summer, start with oysters from the raw bar. Next, dive into one of the heartier winter mains, like the Wood Roasted Gerber Farms Chicken, Jamison Farm Lamb Sirloin, or bacon-wrapped Roasted Monkfish, which is served alongside Carolina gold rice, pecans, Sea Island red pea gravy, and crispy greens.

After your meal, we’ll see you at the theater for THE BODYGUARD, starring Grammy® Award-nominee and R&B superstar Deborah Cox* as Rachel Marron.

Union Standard is a featured partner in our dining discount program for PNC Broadway in Pittsburgh season ticket holders and Pittsburgh Cultural Trust members.
