Spring is in the air! The season of new beginnings not only brings us closer to longer days and warmer temperatures, but you can also look forward to an array of entertaining, inspiring, and family-friendly events in Downtown Pittsburgh and beyond. If you're wondering what to do with those extra daylight hours, we have some ideas for you.

To help you start planning, we've compiled a list of some arts-related events that we think you will enjoy. This list is a mix of events organized by us as well as friends in the Cultural District and around the city.

1 - Intermission at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center

October 13-June 15, Third Thursday of every month

Intermission is the perfect way to unwind after a long day at work. At this happy hour series, you can enjoy crafted cocktails, heavy hors d'oeuvres, live music, and guest DJs. Even better, the entertainment and entry are free. Guests must be 21 and over.

2 - Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Gallery Crawl

April 28, Cultural District

Art is everywhere you look when you come to our quarterly Gallery Crawl series! The spring edition features 18 Crawl Stops—new gallery exhibitions, new multidisciplinary Crawl Stops, and a Silent DiscoCrawl After Dark experience to keep the party going until midnight. You can preview some of the visual artwork that will be on display in our galleries here. Even if you can't make the Gallery Crawl, our main galleries are open and free to the public every week.

3 - Pittsburgh Cultural Trust EQT Children's Theater Festival

May 19-21, Cultural District

The EQT Children's Theater Festival will be here before we know it. Featuring eight extraordinary shows from around the world--including artists from France, Australia, Madagascar, and more--this three-day celebration is sure to be a fun and memorable experience for children and families.

4 - Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival

June 2-11, Cultural District

The spring season is simply not complete without the Dollar Bank Three Rivers Arts Festival. Over the course of ten days, you will be able to enjoy art, food, free music, and more festival fun across the Cultural District. More details about this festival will be announced soon, so stay tuned!

5 - Pittsburgh Cultural Trust BNY Mellon Presents JazzLive

Tuesdays, 5 PM, Liberty Magic

Start off you Tuesday evenings on a high note with our JazzLive series. Jazz Appreciation Month is in April and there is no better way to celebrate than to see some of the city's top jazz perfomers.

...And Beyond

1 - Self Exhibtion - matt lambert

April 14-August 19, Contemporary Craft

Explore art beyond the Cultural District by heading over to Contemporary Craft for a new art exhibition. Called Self, this exhibition highlights the work of artists matt lambert and Erika Diamond, who explore the breadth and confines of gender identity, connection, contact, and the body through wearable works of art. The opening reception, which takes place on April 14 from 5:30-8:00 pm, is free and open to the public.

2 - Handmade Arcade Spring Market

April 29, Construction Junction

The Handmade Arcade is back this spring at Construction Junction. The event will feature 33 talented emerging Pittsburgh markers, artists, and craftspeople. In addition, this market will be rounded out by food trucks, live art demonstrations, and a make-and-take activity.
